Playlist post #1

I absolutely love putting playlists together. When I was a kid, I used to copy songs from radio stations onto cassette tapes and make mixes for my friends, for specific moods, for fictional characters or books I loved. I burned CDs through college and high school, and gave out USB drives of music to friends and family as gifts through my 20’s.
I started Djing for local dance events in 2018, building new libraries for blues and fusion communities. It’s a lot for my anxiety, but I get so much pleasure from real-time feedback of getting to see which songs people respond to, building a mood or creating a container for people to really let loose.

It comes as no surprise that I also put a ton of time and intention into creating music for a session.

When i’m putting together music for a massage session, I want it to provide a grounding presence without taking up too much space. I want it to encourage my client to relax, to drift, to sink inward and connect with their body.

Music that’s familiar to them can certainly help, but if they don’t have a preferred soundtrack my go-to’s are slow, soft instrumentals, longer tracks that match the rhythm of deep breaths, a steady heartbeat. Music that invites rich dreams, a soft place for feelings to bubble up in.

This was my first playlist, and it remains one of my favorites. If we’ve worked together, chances are you’ve heard it.
